The Appearance of “A Japanese Dub Poet”

Yosuke Hashimoto, was described as “a singer-songwriter of dub and breakbeats generation” in 1990s, released his new work after an interval of 23 years. Simplifying and deepening his music characteristics, he reappeared as “a Japanese dub poet.”
This is a reggae tune using live performance tracks by two players (on bass; Yu Takahashi, an undertaker of deep bass, ex.Tike, chocolate dandies / on drums; Jiro Takemura, an expert of one-drop, ex. Dazoku). Adding persistent dub processing by himself, Hashimoto created an authentic, radical sound poetry and sound sculpture.

Profile:
Yosuke Hashimoto began his music career as a musician who put emphasis on the writing of poetry and a sound engineer in the late 1980s. After releasing two solo albums, he formed a band called “Yosuke Hahimoto Trio.” Incorporating the elements of Tropicalia, Afro, reggae and spoken-words, the band actively performend at art galleries and clubs.
Then he took part in “Prints,” a hard-core ambient unit led by metal percussionist Hiro Ohta. The activity of the unit continued for about twenty years, including dancer Yasuo Fukurozaka and guitarist Keisuke Uemura in its member.
Based in Otaru city in Hokkaido, Hashimoto has been performing with a number of visiting musicians as well as influenced by local artists. The end of Prints due to Hiro's death led his music to more poetry-centered sound production.
This tune was created by dub-mixing tracks recorded about ten years ago and adding dub poetry newly written in 2017.
